The production of majolica in Veneto especially Nove (VI) has been thriving since the beginning of the 1700s but the introduction of Chinese porcelain lead to imitating the decorative blue motifs of the Far East with majolica.

Production at Nove distinguished itself from the start for the high quality of the materials and the workmanship; the decorative motifs from simple imitation of themes of other production areas enriched themselves increasingly with original and creative tastes, all realised with great details.

Therefore, the decorators from Nove have been creating ceramics since the second half of the seventeenth century, which still represent one of the most important aspects of popular art of the Venetian culture for their distinctive original characteristics and spontaneity.
